I love it when I turn up at someone’s house and find my pictures on the wall. It’s very Diffrent seeing on my laptop and then printed out and in pride of place in the living room.

| From Hitched .. The Prime Minister has announced that weddings in England will return from 21st June with more than 30 guests allowed at a socially-distanced capacity. Similar to policies in Wales and Northern Ireland, it means the number of guests will be limited by how successfully social distancing rules can be adhered to at the venue. The social distancing rules currently stand at “1 metre +”, meaning the larger the venue, the more guests can attend. We understand there is still uncertainty around other wedding guidelines – we are working with The UK Weddings Taskforce and will update you when we know more. At Craige Barker Photography we have held our Wedding Photography Prices for another year. I will not be increasing any prices in the next 12 months.
This year has been crazy for all involved, from wedding couples trying to book their weddings and wedding photography, or having to move dates repeatedly. I have managed to accommodate all my couples so far. And after four major moves and no extra charges for any of my couples. Since the announcement that we can book again I have had a big increase in bookings. Hitched.com and Bridebook.com have been the main source of these new leads and I’m so grateful for the work they have done. It’s been bad for us all but it’s now a new year and a new dawn. I know it’s hard to not worry but we do try and accommodate changes and we have done everything possible not to charge for date changes and so far I have not charged for any changes.
The main thing everyone is asking for is guarantees that if there are further changes there will be no charges. Its been easy to say that if the new date you want to move to is free I will cover free of charge. As you are aware I can’t increase my wedding photography prices just because of covid. So for the forceable future my charges will be locked in. the single biggest issue is the deposit but If I can’t cover a new date I will consider the refund of a deposit.
I have some new venues I have started dealing with and I hope this grows. Watch this space! 2021 and 2022 are looking like the busiest years so far with the amount of work booked in. I’m offering free albums with the top package. Also with discounts from Hitched and Bridebook, couples are getting a great deal.
As the new engagement season is nearly upon us and lots of couples will be saying I do, I have a new magical offer.
If your getting married and are looking for a photographer, I will give a free pre or engagement shoot. It will have to be in Cheshire or Manchester area but I’m flexible. I will not hold this shoot as any sort of commitment to booking myself for any other photography including your wedding. The main purpose of this promotion is for couples to get used to myself and see if I fit in with the feeling of the big day. All the pictures will be edited ready for and Album and I will supply on a website and can be downloaded. If I do get booked for the wedding I will supply the images on a memory bottle also. We are well into the 2nd Lockdown now and I’ve managed to shoot five weddings this year around the lockdown rules. It’s been a little weird and most of them are going to have a big party next year to make up for this year. I think the hardest rule so far has been the lack of singing in church.Wedding photography prices have been difficult to keep down as the amount of weddings that have moved this year have been tremendous. I am also a carer for my wife so I have to keep my prices low to follow Carer Allowance rules.
I’m not a big god person but I think it’s my duty to sing as loud as possible at weddings. The rules about 2 metres apart sometimes take no account of family groups and can look a little weird. I think it’s an adventure to try and get good shots even in a lockdown situation in a challenging location. In the wedding above we went to Stannylands Hotel in Wilmslow to get some shots in the small area in front of reception.
Next year should be better and also controls may be a little more flexible. At the time of writing it’s been announced we have an a vaccine but I’m not sure how many will be lining up for that one too quickly.
The above image was taken at Ordsall Hall in Salford during lockdown. I did think they would try stopping Brides and Grooms kissing eventually.
All this year we have not lost a wedding and they have all moved to 2021 or 2022. I have one more wedding to shoot in Birmingham I will let you know how it goes. The main thing is ensuring couples have not had the price increased because of covid. I have heard some stories but I don’t think profiteering form a international pandemic issuing to help.
As we move in to 2020 I decided to sort the SEO out on my website and after a weeks investigation I have decided to launch a new website. The new Squarespace site allows me to control website headers and tags and hopefully get better and higher results.

Every now and again there is a picture that surprises you like the one below that has appeared in music magazines and websites across the planet for a long time. It was part of another shoot with Peter Hook and the Light of which none of the other pics from the same gig has ever been published.

I dropped off a USB Bottle for a Bride and Groom today and saw the photos I took at the Court House Knutsford on the wall. It’s real feeling of accomplishment to see the prints on the wall in pride of place.
